Job Description: Under the direction of the Women’s Business Center of Utah (WBCUtah) Northern Office Program Director, the Business Consultant counsels with Utah women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs to ensure they receive assistance, resources, tools and support to start and grow successful businesses. The business consultant also coordinates all WBCUtah client relations.
The consultant specializes in one-on-one counseling with business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs customized for women on topics such as startup assistance, finance/capital, management, marketing, sales and government contracting. The consultant also assists clients with business and growth plan writing, cash flow projections and management and navigating registrations and certifications. WBCUtah’s Business Consultant presents on business topics at the WBCUtah and in the community. The consultant also coordinates communication with and outreach to clients and is their accountability partner and champion.
The business consultant helps set and support WBCUtah goals and initiatives to help women build confidence, create opportunities and experience success in business ownership.

Key Responsibilities:
One-On-One Consulting
•Communicate and schedule appointments with current and new consulting clients
•Accommodate clients availability and offsite meeting requests, which may occasionally include weekends and evenings
Provide high-quality one-on-one counseling sessions with clients in-person, via email, video or virtual platforms
•Ensure complete intake information in received
•Respond to consulting inquiries from
•Assist with setting and fulfilling SBA counseling milestone goals
•Maintain a library of small business tools and resources
•Encourage clients to attend WBCUTAH events, specifically Jump Start and Business Essentials trainings
•Encourage clients to recognize opportunities for international trade and government procurement and assist with the WOSB self certification and 8(a) Business Development Program application process
•Assist clients in exploring, researching and applying for funding to appropriate financial institutions in a non-discriminatory manner
•Encourage and teach clients how to use and incorporate technology such as, website, e-commerce, online marketing and social media or refer them to expert resources
•Assist clients find and access entrepreneurial resources and refer to additional resource providers with a preference for Small Business Development Centers and SCORE
•Contribute to building community awareness of WBCUtah client accomplishments by publicizing client success stories nationally through SBA and locally by using the Chamber communications
Client Relations
•Help plan and carry out client recruitment efforts
•Collect and share client success stories
•Coordinate This Is Me! videos with clients and videographer
•Oversee nominations and selection of WBCUtah Woman of the Year Award
•Work with the program coordinator to plan relevant topics for WBCUtah training and events based on client need
•Conduct Business Essentials trainings and introduce guest speakers
•Develop and present biweekly Jump Start training
•Present on business topics as requested in the community representing the WBCUtah
Data & Reporting
•Report to and keep program director updated on consultation statistics and quarterly reporting
•Ensure client data is organized and up-to-date
•Maintain consultant training section within WBCUtah standard operating procedures
Team Support
•Participate in weekly team meetings, quarterly, and annual strategic planning
•Help set and accomplish center goals and objectives
•Participate in cross-training to ensure efficiency in ongoing operations
•Assist with planning, registration, set-up, and cleanup of WBCUtah events and training
•Comply with WBCUtah branding, communications policies and other standard operating procedures and protocol
•Assist with annual client impact survey
•Occasionally assist with Chamber events
•Business ownership experience with a strong knowledge of operations, finance and marketing
•Ability to counsel with women and minorities with confidence in a one-on-one scenario, using a foundation of business ownership knowledge
•Strong interpersonal, comprehension, communication and writing skills
•Experienced in public speaking and comfortable in front of a camera
•Must have an inviting disposition and trustworthy to others
•A team player and works well with others internally and externally
•Experience in working independently, balancing priorities, time management and meeting deadlines
•Experience with setting and accomplishing goals/objectives, making strategic decisions and applies good judgment
•Self-driven and outcome/detail-oriented
•Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and experienced with Google systems, online platforms and databases
•Able to travel and occasionally work weekends and evenings as needed
•Bachelor’s degree preferred
